Blasphemous religious thoughts

Blasphemous thoughts are a common component of OCD, documented throughout history; notable religious figures such as Martin Luther and St. Ignatius were known to be tormented by intrusive, blasphemous or religious thoughts and urges.[18] Martin Luther had urges to curse God and Jesus, and was obsessed with images of "the Devil's behind".[18][19] St. Ignatius had numerous obsessions, including the fear of stepping on pieces of straw forming a cross, fearing that showed disrespect to Christ.[18][20] A study of 50 patients with a primary diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder found that 40% had religious and blasphemous thoughts and doubts—a higher number than the 38% percent that had the obsessional thoughts related to dirt and contamination more commonly associated with OCD.[21] One study suggests that content of intrusive thoughts may vary depending on culture, and that blasphemous thoughts may be more common in men than in women.[22]

Some common religious obsessions and intrusive thoughts are:[11]

* sexual thoughts about God, saints, and religious figures such as Mary
* bad thoughts or images during prayer or meditation
* thoughts of being possessed
* fears of sinning or breaking a religious law or performing a ritual incorrectly
* fears of omitting prayers or reciting them incorrectly
* repetitive and intrusive blasphemous thoughts
* urges or impulses to say blasphemous words or commit blasphemous acts during religious services.

Suffering can be greater and treatment complicated when intrusive thoughts involve religious implications;[18] patients may believe the thoughts are inspired by Satan,[23] and may fear God's punishment or have magnified shame because they perceive themselves as sinful.[24] Symptoms can be more distressful for sufferers with strong religious convictions or beliefs.[11]

Baer believes that blasphemous thoughts are more common in Catholics and evangelical Protestants than in other religions, whereas Jews or Muslims tend to have obsessions related more to complying with the laws and rituals of their faith, and performing the rituals perfectly.[25] He hypothesizes that this is because what is considered inappropriate varies among cultures and religions, and intrusive thoughts torment their sufferers with whatever is considered most inappropriate in the surrounding culture.[26]

[edit] Associated conditions

Intrusive thoughts are associated with OCD or obsessive-compulsive personality disorder,[27] but may also occur with other conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder,[28] clinical depression,[29] postpartum depression,[6] and anxiety.[30][31] One of these conditions[32] is almost always present in people whose intrusive thoughts reach a clinical level of severity.[33] A large study published in 2005 found that aggressive, sexual, and religious obsessions were broadly associated with comorbid anxiety disorders and depression.[34] The intrusive thoughts that occur in schizophrenia differ from the obsessional thoughts that occur with OCD or depression, in that they are false or delusional beliefs.[35]

[edit] Post-traumatic stress disorder

The key difference between OCD and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is that the intrusive thoughts of PTSD sufferers are of traumatic events that actually happened to them, whereas OCD sufferers have thoughts of imagined catastrophes. PTSD patients with intrusive thoughts have to sort out violent, sexual, or blasphemous thoughts from memories of traumatic experiences.[36] When patients with intrusive thoughts don't respond to treatment, physicians may suspect past physical, emotional or sexual abuse.[37]

if i believe
in death be sure
of this
it is

because you have loved me,
moon and sunset
stars and flowers
gold creshendo and silver muting

of seatides
i trusted not,
one night
when in my fingers

drooped your shining body
when my heart
sang between your perfect
breasts

darkness and beauty of stars
was on my mouth petals danced
against my eyes
and down

the singing reaches of
my soul
spoke
the green--

greeting pale
departing irrevocable
sea
i knew thee death.

and when
i have offered up each fragrant
night,when all my days
shall have before a certain

face become
white
perfume
only,

from the ashes
then
thou wilt rise and thou
wilt come to her and brush

the mischief from her eyes and fold
her
mouth the new
flower with

thy unimaginable
wings,where dwells the breath
of all persisting stars

Daniel 9:24, "Seventy-sevens are decreed (alloted) for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy."

The Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar consisting of 360 days. "seventy-sevens" is prophetic speak for 490 Jewish years.

Daniel 9:25, "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the Rule, comes, there will be seven 'seven,' and sixty-two 'sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble."

The decree to rebuild Jerusalem was issued by Artaxerces exactly 483 years to Jesus, see Ezra and Nehemiah. On the eighth day Jesus' human parents took Him to the temple to be dedicated. Anna and Simeon waited there, confident they'd see the Lord, Luke 2:21-38, because they knew their Bibles.

490 - 483 = 7 years. This leaves 7 years on God's prophetic calendar for the JEWS to finish what is commanded in verse 24. More accurately, Jesus is the only One who can finish what's required in verse 24, but the point I'm making is that the church age is not part of this prophetic clock--this information in Daniel refers to Israel and her Messiah. The entire church age is like a parenthesis in the story.

Daniel 9:26, "After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off (suffer a violent death) and will have nothing."

To the Jewish way of looking at things, Jesus was left with nothing. He had no heirs, He seemed to have failed in His mission--what the Jews considered His mission--which was to end Roman rule and establish God's Kingdom on the earth.

Daniel 9:26b, "The people of the ruler will come and destroy the city and the sanctuary."

This happened in A.D. 70 when the Romans entered Jerusalem and sacked it and took the temple apart stone by stone to get at the gold that had been used as roofing material that had melted down between the stones.

Daniel 9:26c & 27, "The end will come like a flood: war will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven,' but in the middle of that 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And one who causes desolation will place abominations on a wing of the temple, until the end that is decreed for him is poured out on him."

So, we have a similar prophetic utterance as Jesus issued in Matthew 24 and Mark 13--wars and rumors of wars until the end. But then there's this "he." He must be Anti-Christ because the false prophet orders a image of the beast be set up. This robotic statue will have the power to kill those who do not bow down to it, Revelation 13:14 & 15. Daniel says that this abomination will be placed on a "wing" of the temple.

For the Jews there are two ways to have an "abomination that causes desolation." One way is to sacrifice a pig on the Jewish altar. One of Alexander the Great's generals did this. The other way is to place an idol in the temple.

But at present there is no Jewish temple, in fact, from a practical standpoint there never will be a Jewish temple. There's only one place where a Jewish temple can be built and that is on the temple mount where the Muslims have a mosque. The Muslims will not easily give up that ground!

But according to Daniel 9:27, Anti-Christ will make a deal that allows the Jews to build their temple--otherwise how can anyone cause an abomination in the temple after 3 1/2 years into Anti-Christ's deal? Perhaps, Anti-Christ this covenant gets the Muslims to allow the Jews to build their temple next door to the Islamic mosque. In Revelation 11 John is told to measure the temple. Verse 2, "But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given over to the Gentiles."

But here's my point. If you want to know when Anti-Christ is rising to power, watch the Jews and anyone able to bring apparent and seemingly lasting reconciliation between Israelis and Muslims. Everybody who's tried any version of reconciliation like this has failed so far. Someone who is able to make the Muslims friendly and actually make nice with the Jews while simultaneously making the Jews happy--that would be Anti-Christ.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

Eros (Greek: Ἔρως), in Greek mythology, was the primordial god of lust, love, and intercourse; he was also worshiped as a fertility deity. His Roman counterpart was Cupid. In some myths, he was the son of the deities Aphrodite and Ares, but according to Plato's Symposium he was conceived by Poros (Plenty) and Penia (Poverty) at Aphrodite's birthday. This explains the different aspects of love.

Women Suffering from endometriosis often benifit from adding b vitamins, C and bioflavanoids, as well as mineral supplements to their daily regime. B vitamins supplement yin and blood, calm the spirit, and relax the liver. Vitamin C regulates the qi and also clears heat. Minerals such as calcium and selenium calm the spirit; settling anxiety and restlessness. Knowing this they can be logically incorporated into a treatment plan using Ginger, Mint, Licorice, Bupleurum, or Dang Gui. Mega doses are not appropriate because they weaken the Spleen and cause diarrhea. A steady diet of rice and beans might be appropriate.

In America, downing a hearty grain dish would not be called fasting. But in India kitchari—a soupy porridge made from rice and mung beans, lightly spiced with ginger, cilantro, and other spices—is considered a fasting food and is used to purify digestion and cleanse systemic toxins.

Ayurvedic physicians often prescribe a kitchari diet before, during, and after panchakarma, a rejuvenative treatment that cleanses toxins stored in bodily tissues as it restores systemic balance. Kitchari provides solid nourishment while allowing the body to devote energy to healing. You can safely subsist on kitchari anytime in order to build vitality and strength as it helps balance all three doshas. For restless vata, the warm soup is grounding; for fiery pitta, its spices are calming; and for chilly kapha, it provides healing warmth.

Ayurveda believes that all healing begins with the digestive tract, and kitchari can give it a much-needed rest from constantly processing different foods while providing essential nutrients. The blend of rice and split mung beans offers an array of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Its mixture of spices is believed to kindle the digestive fire, the Ayurvedic description for your innate digestive power, which can be weakened by poor food combinations.

Weak gamma rays from Cs-137 in shelf fungi have been measured. Shelf fungi possess annual-ring structures and this made it possible to obtain an annual variation of the radioactive intensity by measuring gamma rays from each annual ring of the sample. Gamma rays from Cs-137 were especially strong in the newest parts of the samples, i.e. the parts of shelf fungi grown in the year 1992 when the samples were gathered. This shows that the part of the most rapid growing largely collects Cs-137. The intensities of K-40 were also measured, but were found to be markedly weak. This is the most distinctive feature as compared with other fungi. The annual variation of intensities as was found for Cs-137 was not clearly observed in the case of K-40. Shelf fungi have been customarily used as a medicine usually by drinking a decoction. The intensity of gamma rays from Cs-137 was measured for the filtered liquid obtained by decocting shelf fungi in boiled water. Certain amount of Cs-137 contaminations was found to be present in the liquid.

Self control is perceived in a few ways. One of which is philosophical and might be described as the exertion of one's own will on one's personal self - their behaviors, actions, thought processes. Much of this comes from the perception of self and the ability to set up boundaries for that self. Self-control can be expanded into several different areas, ranging from respect to willpower. Self-control is therefore centered in the ability of a person to exert their will over the inhibitions of their body or self.

The Assumption of Generality underlies the research work of the experimental analysis of behavior in which the effects of schedules of reinforcement in non-humans (often pigeons) is assumed to generalize to humans.[1] [2] [3]In the experimental analysis of behavior, research on self-control exists with rats, humans and pigeons. This work is based on the Assumption of generality.

Largely replicating the work of Mischel using pigeons instead of children, Grosch and Neuringer (1981) were able to affirm generality in pigeon and human self-control research [8] by showing that the behavior of human children was accurately represented by pigeons presented with the same conditions.

These differing degrees of self-control can be seen when comparing Western and Eastern cultures. In the United States, there appear to be strong tendencies for self-control and impulsivity. Western societies typically describe self control as, “goal-oriented productivity, assertiveness and instrumental doing”. Louge (1995)[13] further states that, “self-control and resistance to temptation has long been part of Americans’ Judeo-Christian heritage. However, in recent decades, there has been concern that this early emphasis on self control may be dissipating”. This dissipation has been attributed to the baby boom or, “me” generation of the 70’s & 80’s and the decreasing rate of savings by current members of this age. This decline in self-control has additionally been noted by Kelly Brownells’ research stating that in modern society, “the degree to which someone is judged as possessing self-control is significantly affected by the degree to which the person has a fit, thin body”(Brownell, 1991)[14].

A self in behavior analysis refers to a repertoire of behaviors [18] typically under the control of a set of contingencies of reinforcement. One self may be of strong biological origin - for example our eating self. Another self may be of social origin, for example one that punishes us for over-eating. These two selves may contend in controlling the same response - eating - that sets the stage for self-control.
